Toronto Wayfinding Contract Award!

We are thrilled to announce that we  have been awarded a major contract to provide pedestrian wayfinding signage throughout the city of Toronto.

Future Systems were originally selected for the manufacture and installation of the pilot project with the first wayfinding signs being installed in throughout Toronto’s Financial District in 2016. Following unprecedented success of this initial pilot scheme, Future Systems have subsequently been awarded the major roll out contract following a competitive tender process. Future Systems scope of works will include full manufacture, installation and maintenance of all on-street hardware.

The Toronto wayfinding project aims to provide better information for people to orient themselves and navigate from place to place with ease. The study which was conducted two years ago, involving consultants Steer Davies Gleave and other project partners, working closely with stakeholders and the public, came up with a strategy and design to include street names, landmarks, conventions, maps and new media bearing in mind other elements of the public realm such as street furniture, walkways, buildings and public art.

The main aim of this project was the City’s Walking Strategy by making the city legible for residents and commuters whilst promoting and enhancing active travel, clean air and healthy streets.

Jonathan Morley, CEO, Future Systems, commented: “We are thrilled to be able to continue working with Toronto on this important project.  We are delivering a truly inspirational range of street furniture throughout this great City”
